Juliana Guevara and Wbeimar Lasso are the duo behind Terra Coffee producer group. A group who we have offered coffees from in the past. Wbeimar is a third generation coffee producer, agro-industrial engineer, Colombia Cup Tasters Champion, and known for his skills in processing.
This Gesha lot was grown on Juliana and Wbeimar's La Terraza Estate. The farm is in southwest Colombia's Huila Department. It sits at almost 2000 meters above sea level in the Andes, and it is basically a variety garden with Chiroso, Pink Bourbon, and Caturra also planted there.
Gesha is a beautiful and elegant cultivar. It is an Ethiopian landrace selection originally selected for its resistance to coffee diseases, only later was it (re)discovered by Hacienda la Esmeralda in Panama as a varietal with extraordinary cup quality. It is considered to be crème de la crème of coffee varietals. Under the right circumstances, Gesha coffees are floral, fruited, juicy, and delicate.
This lot is a washed preparation. Coffee was de-pulped, fermented for 36-48 hours, washed, and dried mostly in the shade for 20-30 days.
It is evident that care was taken and things were done right at every stage because this Gesha lot from La Terraza is a beautiful expression of this varietal. The cup is overtly botanical, super clean, elegant, and flavorful. Look forward to rosewater, jasmine, and honeysuckle-like florals, lemon and mandarin-like citrus impressions, and fruited notes from apricot to strawberry to honeydew.
