This lot comes from Primitiva Apaza in the Alto Inambari subregion of Puno's Sandia Valley. This area is home to some of the world's most distinct and coveted coffees. The landscape of Puno is varied ranging from deep, hot jungle to icy mountain peaks. It also offers a diversity of fertile soils with a high variety of minerals. Sandia Valley is a high altitude jungle with a tropical climate. These conditions provide the ideal circumstances for growing coffee. Take into account the large diversity of microclimates and unique growing conditions in the region and it easy to see why this is such a special place for coffee.
Primitiva's farm, Finca Paltaypampa, is small at 2 hectares. She has Typica and Caturra trees planted. Altitudes are high at around 1800 meters above sea level. Primitiva processes her coffee herself. This is a washed preparation.
